Before you bring out the holiday magic, let's make room for it. Nothing kills holiday joy faster than trying to decorate around piles of clutter.

The Reality Check: Your holiday decorations deserve better than competing with everyday mess for space and attention.

The 2-Week Pre-Holiday Declutter Plan

Week 1: Clear the Decks

Focus on the spaces where holiday magic happens:
Living Areas (Day 1-2)

Remove 10 items that don't belong
Clear all surfaces completely
Create designated spots for items that usually migrate

Kitchen/Dining (Day 3-4)

Clear counters for holiday baking prep
Make space in pantry for holiday ingredients
Declutter dishes/servingware (donate duplicates)

Entry/Mudroom (Day 5-7)

Make room for guests' coats
Clear surfaces for holiday cards and packages

What NOT to Declutter Right Now:

Your entire house (save energy for decorating!)
Sentimental items (decision fatigue kills holiday spirit)
Kids' rooms (unless they volunteer to help)

This Week's Action Steps:

Walk through your home and identify the 3 spaces most important for holiday activities
Set a timer for 15 minutes and start with the most visible area
Involve the family - make it a game with upbeat holiday music
Bag donations immediately and put them in your car
Reward yourself when each space is complete
